Dave’s Weekly Market Report

Good afternoon:

Eggs:
The shell egg market has begun to decline as inventories build due to recent record pricing.  Retail sales have slowed down as no one is featuring eggs due to the high price point. The further processed market is still very aggressive as people are trying to “fill the pipeline”. Manufacturers can not get enough as egg processors have limited what they are producing and selling. We are getting cut dramatically from some of our suppliers and they have stopped making some items to focus on other items. We are forced to allocate some items and switch brands on others.
Butter:
The butter market can not make a decision what to do. It goes up then drops and then starts going back up again. I can not predict what will take place, but it is Summer when cream traditionally tightens up with ice cream production in full swing. Others are trying to build inventories as the end of the year is the highest demand time for butterfat.
Cheese:
The cheese market was very aggressive this week after dropping at the end of last week and the beginning of this. If nothing changes next week the markets will rise again as the close is higher than the weeks averages.
Everyone at Honor Foods thanks you for your continued business and wish you and your families a safe and relaxing weekend.
